Mapas

Leia Provérbios 3.5-6 :

5 Confia no Senhor de todo o teu coração, e não te estribes no teu próprio entendimento.

Minha mãe sempre gostou de mapas. Quando ela e meu pai viajavam pelo mundo, ela era a navegadora. Quando estuda a Bíblia, ela tem um mapa a seu lado. Se fica sabendo que alguém está viajando, ela o pega. Outro dia fomos ao zoológico de Honolulu. No caminho, ela disse que desejava ter um mapa consigo. Assegurei-lhe de que conseguiríamos chegar lá, mas mesmo assim ela preferia ter um mapa. Gosto de mapas também. O mapa-múndi pendurado em nosso corredor faz-me lembrar as palavras de João Wesley: "O mundo é minha paróquia". Meu mapa preferido para a vida é a Bíblia. Mas, quando estudo sobre a peregrinação pelo deserto, não me interessa onde fica o Sinai. O que interessa é que estou perdida e sinto-me reconfortada por Deus estar comigo. Quando estou a caminho do Calvário, sofrendo com Cristo, não me interessa a localização exata dessa jornada. O que importa é que estou com Cristo e Ele está comigo. Quando viajo por qualquer estrada, sei que Deus está à frente, atrás e acima de mim. Sei disso porque, estudando a Bíblia, aprendi sobre quem Deus é e quem sou.

Oração: Senhor amado, ajuda-nos a lembrar de reconhecer os Teus caminhos e mantém-nos nas Tuas veredas. Em nome de Jesus. Amém.

Pensamento para o dia: Se reconhecermos a constante presença de Deus em nossa vida, Ele sempre nos manterá no caminho certo.

Read Proverbs 3:5-6

In all your ways acknowledge [the Lord], and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:6 (NIV)

MY mom has always liked maps. When she and Dad traveled the world, she was the navigator. When she studies the Bible, she has a map by her side. If she hears that someone is traveling, she gets out her map. The other day, we were headed for the Honolulu Zoo. On the way, she said that she wished she had a map with her. I assured her that we would get there, but she still wished for a map.

I like maps too. The map of the world in our hallway reminds me of John Wesley's words: "I look upon all the world as my parish."

My favorite map for my life is the Bible. But if I'm studying about wandering in the wilderness, it matters not to me where the Sinai desert is. What matters is that I'm lost, and I'm comforted that God is with me. If I'm on the road to Calvary, suffering with Christ, the exact location of that journey doesn't matter. What matters is that I'm with Christ and he's with me. When I travel down any road, I know that God is before me, beside me, behind me, and above me. I know this because I have learned about who God is and who I am by studying the Bible.
